Spearhead Posted August 27, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 27, 2014 I would like your thoughts on this knife marked "Sheffield England". It resembles the T3 in one of the other threads. No other markings. I'm thinking this is a copy. Thanks much, J.R.
Ben@HI Posted August 27, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 27, 2014 Not my area of interest but I think this is a post WW2 fairbairn sykes commando knife. Not US issue as far as I know
doyler Posted August 27, 2014 Share #3 Posted August 27, 2014 Agree with Ben This is most likely a late era knife due to the markings as well as the cross guard thickness and pommel nut design. I recall seeing these in the Soldier of Fortune magazines and Atlanta Cutlery catalogs and the major gun magazines back in the late 70s and early 80s.This said there were even models avaiable during Viet Nam that were commercially avaiable for purchase through a variety of sources and used there. There was a local Aircrew/para rescue vet here who carried a FS stiletto during his tours and was a career Air Force veteran as well.
