I acquired this group at the OMSA convention in Irvine last week.

This is a WWII US Navy Good Conduct Medal group to a Chief who was present on the USS Whitney during the Pearl Harbor attack on 12/7/41 . He earned 6 awards of the GCM during his career. He later became a Warrant Officer. What I like about it is that the Navy issued him another medal for his 3rd Enlistment ending in 1941 instead of an award bar. You can clearly tell from the wear on the 1941 dated medal he used it as a fob or pocket piece.

The other interesting item that came with this group is a knife he made! It is very nice and is named to him on the blade.

Very nice! Was it the norm to have multiple award bars on the GCM like this one is or did they normally only put the most recent one on? I am working on a project and have multiple award bars (SECOND, THIRD and FOURTH), I want to ensure I display it correctly.

I've seen it done both ways. If you have the bars display them on the medal IMO
