Question about Robeson Mark 2s

In general, collectors value the blade marked versions higher than the guard marked. This is mostly because the blade marked is somewhat earlier and therefore was likely to have seen more active service than a guard marked. Also the earlier ones may have been "used up" in service and are therefore harder to find.

Condition of course is really more important than where the marking is.

Some collectors (myself included) prefer the "used" been there-done that look over a "arms room" version that was never issued. I normally will not pay a premium for very high end condition because to me it does not have the "history" that a used one does. Admittedly, the use may have been post-war and there is normally no way to tell when and where it was used. Each collector must decide what he wants to collect and why - do you want a piece with possible use and history, or a like new investment piece? Totally up to the individual.

Thanks Gary, I have been collecting blade marked, but looked thru my case of knives and found one with the guard marking.Dave
