More New England Birds: USAAF B24, USN Texan and Otter

Been busy this summer:

 

SNJ Texan Trainer @ NAS Squantum in the 50's:

B-24 @ Westover Field -- where the crews trained before heading overseas.

UC-1 Otter of VX-6- Home base Quonset NAS and deployed to Antarctic.

first of all I would like to say thanks for your constant contribution in this section! Another fine set of planes, thanks for sharing these; please keep up the good work!

 

I haven't had heard of the "Otter" before and did a little google research. Finally I found a similar one here:

I noticed that you are painting even straight edges between different colors "free-handed".

 

 

May I say a word about that? I think you would achieve even better results when using crepe tape (term?). Paint the lighter areas first and let the color dry completely. Then tape the edges (covering the lighter areas) with that tape and paint or brush the darker colors above. After the darker color has dryed, remove the tape. It works very well, even with that very small scaled planes, so why not give it a try.
