Blackshiep1 Posted August 17, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 17, 2014 Recently helped a friend clean out his fathers estate. That included going through 60+ years of acquired "stuff" in the barn. Pulled this out of the trailer (along with a brass compass that looks like a pocket watch) that was destined for the dump. It's rough, as you can see but I do hope to do something with it, marked "Utica" on the guard.

thorin6 Posted August 17, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 17, 2014 Great little project; not much you can do that will hurt it, so go to town. I'm working on a Ka-bar that is a little better shape but not by much. I think your first effort should be to concentrate on the blade and get that reasonably fixed, then figure out what to do about the handle. Blackshiep1 Posted August 17, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted August 17, 2014 Appreciate the comments, this one may end up in the trade-box since I've never worked on knives. Hate to make it worse, especially if somebody else can make better use of it, besides that, I have the carbine project about ready to go. Wish I had got to this a little sooner. Garandomatic Posted August 17, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 17, 2014 Better saved, regardless of condition, than in the dump.
