SKIPH Posted August 15, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 15, 2014 Hey Gang! Waiting on this Smooth Handled M3 Trench Knife to arrive. Ebay item #131261989432. Had my work buddy make an offer, dealer accepted. I believe it is an Imperial, due to the brown spacer(s). It also has the pommel which resembles Imperials, and the peening looks right. Scabbard is like the other PX leather sheath that I have for an Imperial (ground stamp) 6 groove M3. Plus it's parkerized. Should be in my hands about Tuesday. Seller listed it 3 times, w/ no bids, and reduced the price. It's rare, and listed in Coles Book III. I have never seen one anywhere. But sure like it. Trying to round out my M3 collection. SKIPH Posted August 15, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted August 15, 2014 Tony-I suspect that the blade will meet minimal expectations. It is very rare. Surprised we don't see more of these. Imperial was very prolific in their production. PX or Post War, it's all good. I don't suspect it's a rare prototype, or a sterile "OSS" knife. LOL!! Just can't believe no one else jumped on it. This will go nice with my straight guard CASE, another smooth handle variation. I'll let you guys know when it comes in. SKIP
Reeder3 Posted August 16, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 16, 2014 Excellent! Thought about making an offer on it too, but have been spending way too much money and no one is buying anything so bad time to try and sell to free up toy funds.
SKIPH Posted August 19, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted August 19, 2014 The Smoothed Handled M3 arrived today. It was much nicer than in the photos. The knife, which I still believe to be made by Imperial is fantastic. The finish has no wear on the pommel, guard, or most of the blade (being in a leather sheath saved it), just has those slight sharpening marks near the tip. Work buddy brought it in today. We all played with it. Totally impressed, and pleased. SKIP

SKIPH Posted August 22, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted August 22, 2014 Patchcollector-- Thanks for posting the pictures. It's a beautiful knife, and I wanted everyone to be able to study it as a reference. Still about 99.9% sure it's an Imperial. As far as posting the ebay adds, just drag them on to the desktop. Ok have to try that. Again, thank you. SKIP
