mmerc20 Posted August 11, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 11, 2014 I'm pretty sure I have seen these knives before but can't remember what it is. This was in the personal effects of a soldier wounded in Europe in WWII. There are no markings. Some assistance would be great! Mike
Wake1941 Posted August 11, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 11, 2014 Not sure what the blade it but it is definitely theater made, and very well done
doyler Posted August 11, 2014 Share #3 Posted August 11, 2014 Blade could be a truck spring, file or any suitable piece of steel.Lots of these were done on board ships.machine shops and your neighbors garage and sent to war.I have one made by a local black smith. ka bar Posted August 11, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 11, 2014 Theater knives are a very specialised focus of collection So much so that there are books solely based on them Some are just outstanding, some are rough as guts This one is really, really nice... It would appear to be, indeed a theater knife...just based on the information before me
Charles1966 Posted August 11, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 11, 2014 A very handsome knife indeed...

mmerc20 Posted August 12, 2014 Author Share #7 Posted August 12, 2014 I thought it looked like a production made piece, but perhaps I was incorrect. There are no markings on it which I'm not surprised now. Thanks a lot! Mike
siclfde Posted August 18, 2014 Share #8 Posted August 18, 2014 It is not a Richtig, but it has a little of the look of a Richtig. Maybe that is what you remembered seeing.
popcorn Posted August 23, 2014 Share #9 Posted August 23, 2014 I thought it looked like a production made piece, but perhaps I was incorrect. There are no markings on it which I'm not surprised now. Thanks a lot! Mike Hi. Very nice knife. It may be a theater re-worked factory blade. I could be wrong but the runout on the ricasso does look like a factory finish to me.
