BEAST Posted July 28, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 28, 2014 And she's a Hoosier! http://www.wjla.com/articles/2014/07/lucy-coffey-oldest-living-female-world-war-ii-veteran-comes-to-d-c-for-honor-flight-visit-105475.html WASHINGTON (WJLA) - The nation's oldest living female World War II veteran came to D.C. to visit the memorials and monuments and get a tour of the White House. The 108-year-old woman, Lucy Coffey, flew first class from San Antonio to Washington on a trip arranged in part by an Honor Flight group in Texas. Coffey, who was a sergeant in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps, was awarded two bronze stars for her service in the Pacific. Saturday, she visited the World War II Memorial and The Women In Military Service For America Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery before heading to the White House. Too frail to get around and barely able to speak, she finally made it to the memorial constructed because of her service to our country.
