DoubleEnvelopment Posted July 24, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 24, 2014 Here is a really nice documentation of Lt. Arthur Lynwood Watson's 21 career in the US Navy spanning 1926-1947. Without a doubt the best thing in the grouping is the travel log/journal, of which I will be posting the entire journal section. I am also including several of his discharge certificates and other documents that I have acquired. Watson saw notable combat in the PTO including the sinking of two Japanese Submarines, several bombardments & invasions(Guam&Saipan&Iwo Jima) surface combat at the Battle off Samar as part of Task force 77.4.2 "Taffy 2", Halsey's Typhoon and lastly a Kamikaze strike that devastated his destroyer off Okinawa. DoubleEnvelopment Posted July 24, 2014 Author Share #13 Posted July 24, 2014 I forgot a great part, a massive full USS Texas Crew photo, sadly it is in rough shape and an entire piece of the right edge is torn off. It's about 4 feet long so I had to take multiple photos.

Hessian Posted July 24, 2014 Share #15 Posted July 24, 2014 Fantastic group! Thanks for sharing... What an old salt he must have been! The yard long photo can probably be repaired at a good framing shop. I had one with a similar issue and they did a pretty good job fixing it when it was framed.
