Pep Posted July 24, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted July 24, 2014 I Picked one up last spring for $5 at a auction nice pouch. Craig Now that would be a deal. Considering how uncommon this pattern of M1910 pouch is you were lucky to find one and at such a price. Post a pic.

RustyCanteen Posted July 24, 2014 Share #8 Posted July 24, 2014 That is an excellent find, these don't grow on trees (but I wish they did). RC
Pep Posted July 25, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted July 25, 2014 That is an excellent find, these don't grow on trees (but I wish they did). RC True, I think I only see this pattern about 2 or 3 times a year for sale. Condition varies. Being dated is the prize for me. I understand the hanger chape was added 15 May 1914. Thanks for the comments.

Fausto Posted July 26, 2014 Share #11 Posted July 26, 2014 Great pouch ! Congratulations on this find... I couldn't resist and so here you have my two pouches. Both unused, both dated 1913 with different inspector's stamp. The markings are very faint but I'm pretty sure of the date... Please don't ask me what I payed for these pouches, found over the years... Ok, one a little over and one a little under $ 300, but I love them anyway... Pep Posted July 26, 2014 Author Share #15 Posted July 26, 2014 last one... Hey there Fausto, I kinda knew I would be hearing from you. You pouch is the earlier pattern with the shorter hem line under the snaps on the flap. I have one with a partial date but not so nice as yours. Now the question, do you have one of the pattern I have pictured?
Fausto Posted July 26, 2014 Share #16 Posted July 26, 2014 Hi Pep ! No, I don't... And that's why I love so much your pouch... The best I have with the longer hem line over the snaps is a RIA 1916 with the earlier "glove" snaps and still the red stamping, but with the "modern" hook tab. The very same year they turned to the Carr snaps and black stamping... Fausto
Fausto Posted July 26, 2014 Share #17 Posted July 26, 2014 and by the way, this is the R.I.A.1916 with the new Carr's snaps and black stamping. Please note the dot after the 6 ...
Fausto Posted July 26, 2014 Share #18 Posted July 26, 2014 Oh, I forgot : do you know what could be the meaning of the GS or 68 over the crossed cannons ? Thanks! Cheers...

Pep Posted July 26, 2014 Author Share #20 Posted July 26, 2014 Oh, I forgot : do you know what could be the meaning of the GS or 68 over the crossed cannons ? Thanks! Cheers... I think i would go with numbers or the letter idea. 68th Artillery?(field) Is there a letter or number below the crossed cannons?

Fausto Posted July 26, 2014 Share #22 Posted July 26, 2014 No, no letters or numbers visible under or besides the crossed cannons... 68th Artillery sounds good... Yes Pep, I would love the missing variation, but I collect only mint / near mint items, so I don't carry much hope to get one to match the babies in the drawer...
