billl Posted July 14, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 14, 2014 Wasn't planning on buying anything at th Portland Antiques expo, but the second table I stopped at had this. AT $100 it seemed to be too cheap to pass up, so I didn't. Opinions, thoughts, etc? I guess I may be in the market for a good scabbard.

KurtA Posted July 14, 2014 Share #7 Posted July 14, 2014 Looks like the grips were replaced. Should be a checkered composition material, not smooth wood.
Got da Penny Posted July 14, 2014 Share #8 Posted July 14, 2014 The grips have been replaced. As stated above The bad thing is, trying to find a scabbard on the loose. Good Luck and Thanks for sharing.
billl Posted July 14, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted July 14, 2014 Thanks for the update. Didn't know the grips were replaced, but still like it for $100. Would you try to replace the grips (which seems hard to find) or let it hang on the wall?
KurtA Posted July 14, 2014 Share #10 Posted July 14, 2014 If you can replace the grips, you should. Just not right the way it is.

pony soldier Posted July 21, 2014 Share #12 Posted July 21, 2014 Bill: As I am in Portland area also we have probably run into one another at some time. i knew I should have went out to the Expo., but it is not like I do not have enough Patton's already. You did very well for yourself, as for the grips and a scabbard I believe I can help or you can see what turns up on Ebay. Anyway always nice to see a new Patton and get the serial number. billl Posted April 28, 2016 Author Share #13 Posted April 28, 2016 Will try to bring this thread back to life. Could use grips for this sword, if anyone knows a source. Plus attachment hardware. Ideas?
Spathologist Posted April 28, 2016 Share #14 Posted April 28, 2016 http://www.ssfirearms.com/proddetail.asp?prod=EW319 They also have the screws, though they are reproductions and, IIRC, only the long screws. The grips take a long screw and a short.
billl Posted April 29, 2016 Author Share #15 Posted April 29, 2016 Thanks. I'll order a set tomorrow.
billl Posted May 9, 2016 Author Share #16 Posted May 9, 2016 Checked that link to the screws. That company has NO screws that fit, neither the short screw, nor the long screw. They have one on their website, but their sales rep says it doesn't really fit the grips. FYI only. Price was $86 for a pair of grips, I think, plus $11 for shipping, $97 total. Something like that. Ouch.
