maybe they also don't consider the newly manufactured knives dangerous and view them as novelty pieces, its just the collectable martial blades that should not be in civilized society.

I got my hands slapped a couple weeks ago when I tried to pass off a M1917 trench knife on eBay as a trench art letter opener. They pulled the listing and restricted me from posting any items for 24hrs. It wasn`t my first infraction. Although it worked before. Perhaps someone reported it. I have found that the eBay polizei appear to lacking in the knowledge department and are inconsistent at best in enforcing policy.

It seems quite obvious that M1917 or MK1's etc. are targeted, these are seen as "real" all the others in the link are Pakistan/Mexico what have you are crap and seen as novelties. It is such an ignorant way of looking at it but the M1917 and MK1 were made for military purposes being somehow more dangerous than others. This crap sells all day long but list a M1917 or MK1 and whamo its pulled just like their interpretation of the Stolen Valor Act it makes zero sense.

As far as military goes, bayonets, machetes, swords and the vast array of fighting knives will kill you just the same. The long blade weapons would be more effective due to the larger size and the "reach" advantage. However conceal carry would be difficult (Ha Ha!). I would also think that the cheap import "crap" as you put it being sold on eBay is more likely to be used in the commission of a crime than a much more expensive military knuckle knife. The latter being bought by the collector and not the criminal. All of these weapons were made for a purpose, and it wasn`t cutting cake or roasting marshmallows. Use them for what they were intended for and the end result is the same. Yep, very frustrating!

I have dealt with ebay for years and have noticed that there are words that they flag. "Brass knuckle" is one phrase that is not allowed. In the ebay postings above, brass knuckle is only used on novelty miniatures, like GI Joe or charms. The knives that have full size steel knuckles are called "Knuckle Duster". Also, I have seen many MC-1 knives on ebay (in fact I believe I may have purchased at least one). As long as the word "switchblade" is not used, it will usually will fly. "Trench knife" or "1917 Trench knife" will be scrutinized. Check out this M-2 type Presto.

Importing US blades into Australia is a bit of a minefield.

For example, a M4 bayonet is perfectly legal even though it is double edged

However, an M3 trench knife is illegal to import as it is a double edged "dagger"

A sword, no problem

A bayonet, no problem

A WW2 German boot knife, no chance

A modified knife into a double edged blade, no chance

I had listed an M1917 and eBay actually called me to tell me it violates their terms and they're going to take it down. At least the guy was nice about it. He said its because the knife has brass knuckles which are illegal in some states.

The one that annoys me is m14/m1a parts. I have a lot of USGI stocks I'd like to sell but can't list them there. I talked to them on the phone about this, "m14/m1as are assault weapons and you can't list parts to assault weapons."
