kmc1945 Posted July 8, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 8, 2014 If I am rehashing an old topic that has been discussed here previously, I apologize. I am just wondering if anyone here knows of any types of insurance one can purchase for a collection? I'm sure I'm not the only one who has layed awake at night thinking of the terrifying prospect of a house fire or theft destroying thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of items, not to mention the countess hours vested in them. Are there any provisions of, say, a homeowners policy that would cover militaria? Perhaps a supplemental policy? And how extensive of a cataloging process would be required for that purpose? Does anyone here have any experience with this issue? Thanks! Regards, Kyle

jgawne Posted July 8, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 8, 2014 pretty much every company has some form of collection insurance. Although it can be a pain dealing with it. My advice is that before you do anything, make sure you have a good monitored alarm system, with monitored smoke detectors. In many cases (and YMMV) if a police department known that there is a gun collection on the premises they will expedite any alarm calls. Well, some cases.
