So do At The Front service shoes hold up well? I just got a pair for $85 on ebay and they should be arriving soon. When I receive them, what kind of polishing do you guys recommend? These are not the roughouts, just the standard Type II service shoe.

Got a second hand pair ( via this forum) and they stood up excellently wearing 24/7 for 9 days in Normandy during the 70th

I picked up a pair and I'm really pleased with them. Any brown shoe polish will work well with these. I usually apply mine the old fashioned way... with a rag, a bit of water and a lot of patience. As you continue to add layers of polish, they darken nicely.

I just bought a second pair. The first ones are holding up fine and dandy, but I wanted a second pair to have a 'dress' pair as well.

The latest batch are just in (and may be the last of them according to ATF) are conciderably darker than the pair I got three years ago

I prefer my WWII impressions, the only pair of ATF I had's sole fell of the day I got them and "were not returnable". Any repro boots are good with brown shoe polish and snow seal (for roughouts).

Other than just trying them on to ensure proper fitting, I haven't worn the pair I bought a week ago yet. Despite that, they look amazing and I'm really happy.
