BOB K. RKSS Posted June 5, 2008 Share #1 Posted June 5, 2008 My main collecting interest is Edged Weapons (U.S., & World Fighting Knives, & Third Reich Daggers); so to find, & buy this thick grip, blade marked "USMC" "KA-BAR", & Sheath in mint condition (at the West Springfield Show last weekend) was very satisfying. I'm a condition collector; so I'm always looking for top condition pieces. Hope You all Enjoy!

Greg Robinson Posted June 8, 2008 Share #4 Posted June 8, 2008 That was the last contract with Union Cutlery aka "KA-BAR". It had a "fat" leather handle, "small font" USMC markings on the blade, and thin pinned pommel. Yours is an outstanding example. "Minty" WW2 Marine "k-bars" are becoming difficult to find. Here's the same knife I got cheap off ebay in the early days when it was a buyer's market for US military knives. Somebody removed the snap on the retaining strap but the scabbard is still excellent and the knife virtually mint. That spot on the handle is from the camera.
