hink441 Posted April 30, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 30, 2014 I like to collect the 111th F.A. pieces whenever I come across them, and I recently acquired one of these pins. I have not seen this type DI before and was wondering if someone could provide any info. I know the "Armstrong Battery" was the Norfolk Battery and they were also called the "Norfolk Blues". I believe these pins were made in Germany, but I wonder if this was an official DI or not. Anybody have any info about this pin? Thanks for looking. KurtA Posted April 30, 2014 Share #2 Posted April 30, 2014 Doesn't look German-made to me. I'd say US-made.
hink441 Posted April 30, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted April 30, 2014 Thanks for the comment Kurt. The only reason I thought it was German manufacture was the heavy spike posts on the back side. I guess my assumption was wrong. So this pin was made in the USA. That makes me wonder if this pin is possibly pre-war? I know it has 1922 on the front, but I dont think the pin is that old. Thoughts??? Chris
