In 1954, came the announcement that would make the 10th Infantry Division a part of the Free World's wall of defense. Gyroscope - the Army's newest plan for rotating units rather than individuals - the 10th Infantry Division was selected to replace the 1st Infantry Division. Shown is a German made Pocket patch for the 10th Infantry Division Head Quarters and a name tape that is the colors of the Signal Branch.

Great stuff Joseph!

Keep it coming...I just love the early occupation of Germany era.

I think I recognize some items too ;-)

Right now I am working on a 11th Airborne Division "Shield of Bavaria" display during Gyroscope in the mid 50's.

The M38 jeep is almost ready to roll.

Great display (and nice to know, that some patches of my former collection found a good new home;-).

Part of our hobby is to make sure that the right stuff reaches the right collections!

The 85th Infantry Regiment, 10th Division, was in Bamberg Germany in 1955. This HBT fatigue shirt and helmet liner had been on display at the militria show at the Jackson Armory in Portland, OR in February 2014.

Thank You m60, where on the uniform, Class A Ike, Khakis and or Fatiques was this sewn on do you know? Or would it be strickly a pocket patch on fatique items?

Sahm, Stroschein, and Bodendein (from your post in the Armored Triangles Topic), three out of the 4 you posted so far, seem's like alot of German Americans were in the 10th Div then eh! :D

You got alot of great stuff around in the background m60. Hey don't forget to post those 50s Tank Crewman helmets in the Helmet forum when you get a chance, search around there, there are topics already up and running on them, like I think Elvis Tank Helmet, and one I started on a 4th Armord Div Spec 5 on a 1961 LIFE cover, or if you like, you could start a new topic there. As a heads up normally photos posted here in this particular forum should show both sides of the helmet and the liner, as well as metioning any distinctive features rather then just a straight on single photo of the helmet.

Just to make sure... The German made cloth insignia depicted in the center is an extra large DUI, not an extra small pocket patch, right?

We would have to say right, a slightly oversizes cloth DI and not a pocket patch. The excess cloth no doubt would be trimmed to the edges of the DI and then sewn on the shoulder loops, or if one wanted, a Inf Blue Ascot/Scarf.
