Bob Hudson Posted May 30, 2008 Share #26 Posted May 30, 2008 There is one weak link in this item's auction: it is scheduled to end at about 4:30 AM Pacific Time Friday, 7:30 AM Eastern Times. I have seen some items come in real low because they ended at times when many bidders are still asleep or doing such things as rushing to get to school or work. Granted some bidders use automated programs but never underestimate the buying frenzy on live bidders with auction fever. Ebay studies have shown that overall the best auction results come when items end at 4PM Pacific Time on a Sunday, but barring that, it's good to have them end at some time in the evening when people on the west coast are home from work and folks on the east coast haven't gone to bed yet. If you want to maximize it for European and Asian buyers as well, the best ending time is 3PM Pacific Time on a Saturday or Sunday. Well, it will be interesting to see who's up bright and early Friday for this one.
Bob Hudson Posted May 31, 2008 Share #27 Posted May 31, 2008 Well, it will be interesting to see who's up bright and early Friday for this one. Yep it had to be one of our East Coast members - the Californians were all still sleeping at 0430. Looks like it was a nice deal for all concerned. teufelhunde.ret Posted December 10, 2009 Share #29 Posted December 10, 2009 Indeed - that caught me by surprise too... some lucky soul got a great deal!
Bob Hudson Posted December 10, 2009 Share #30 Posted December 10, 2009 This is one of those things where the title gave no clue as to USMC origin: There were several bidders, but maybe only one of them realized what they were really bidding on:
Leatherneck72 Posted December 13, 2009 Share #31 Posted December 13, 2009 Sounds like this is becoming the Ebay monitoring forum.....
Bob Hudson Posted December 13, 2009 Share #32 Posted December 13, 2009 Sounds like this is becoming the Ebay monitoring forum..... Becoming? You should see the M-1 helmet section over the past few years - nothing gets past the helmet collectors.
Brig Posted December 13, 2009 Share #33 Posted December 13, 2009 Sounds like this is becoming the Ebay monitoring forum..... well, eBay is the primary way we track values these days. as long as personal details don't come out, which is hard with the user confidentiality now, I don't see a huge problem. I for one am not obsessive enough to keep track of eBays handles vs concealed codes
