patches Posted March 4, 2014 Share #4 Posted March 4, 2014 It's American alright, a Red Cross with LionHeads at the ends, perhaps a Medical Corps unit? New Jersey NG???

TRR Posted March 5, 2014 Share #7 Posted March 5, 2014 Wow, pre-ww2 with a great maker! Is there more to the uniform we can see?
patches Posted March 5, 2014 Share #8 Posted March 5, 2014 Ah yes but the problem with dating this is that the 369th Med Bn was activated for the first time in May 1943 along with the 69th Inf Div, 69th Inf Div was never active before. TIOH doesn't list it. So since it is in Silver colored metal (Sterling?) than perhaps a wartime made DI for this unit.
Allan H. Posted March 5, 2014 Share #9 Posted March 5, 2014 I agree with Patches. This is NOT a pre-WWII DI. It is still a nice piece! Allan
KurtA Posted March 5, 2014 Share #10 Posted March 5, 2014 A characteristic of an original WW2 era Eby-made DUI is the open hook catch. Possibly it's sterling and they just didn't hallmark it as such.
TRR Posted March 5, 2014 Share #11 Posted March 5, 2014 I was going off the open "c" catch, but the unit activation would seem to prove my belief wrong. Lesson for the day, thanks fellas!

Allan H. Posted March 6, 2014 Share #13 Posted March 6, 2014 I'm willing to bet that if you touch a magnet to the DI, that you'll find out that it is steel rather than silver. That looks like a KILLER Ike jacket! Allan
TRR Posted March 6, 2014 Share #14 Posted March 6, 2014 I agree, great looking jacket!
