Fess Parker as Davy Crockett.

fess-parker-and-rifle-betsy.jpgcrocket3.jpg

I vote "no" on this one. Bad casting. They miss it in the eyes and mouth. Fess was from TX and got this role from the Disney show. He got the Disney show from a tiny bit part in the giant ant movie "Them". Playing a crazy TX pilto who saw the flying Queen ant while in his airplane. That's Hollywood all over....

Totally off here.....YUK. Its about box office. Just cram a popular star into a male role. A shame. LAZY casting.

Amelia Earhart, who received the Distinguished Flying Cross for her aviation exploits, portrayed by Diane Keaton in "Amelia Earhart: The Final Flight", Amy Adams in "Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian" and Hilary Swank in "Amelia".

Gary Cole as George Armstrong Custer in "Son Of The Morning Star"

I vote "OK" on this one. Average casting, but good acting in the role. They miss it in the eyes and mouth. Gen Custer has been badly casted and acted more than any other Western figure, except maybe Buffalo Bill or William Hickock.

Military figure plays actor!

In the 1946 movie "The Best Years of Our Lives" Harold Russell played the role of Homer Parrish, a fictional sailor who lost both hands during the war.

Mr Russel lost his hands while an army instructor, training with the 13th Airborne division at Camp Mackall.

Above par casting and excellent acting for this newcomer with no acting training. thanks for posting the real story behind this WW2 veteran. From my dad's WW2 generation. My dad had many amputee friends in Disabled American Veterans. I had not idea he was an army vet. The film he was in was considered by professionals as one of the best ediiten feature film in film history. the transitions are seamless and invisible.
