Is this a good period DI?

It may be post-war, but IMHO, it is from the 40s-50s. I don't know if it is worth the $45 asking price though. I wouldn't pay that much unless I had some sort of emotional attachment to that unit (father was in the unit, etc.), but that's just me. Hopefully a hardcore DI collector will chime in.

Thanks Steve. The 135th was a Kansas NG unit. I collect Kansas NG pieces. I know this piece was restruck somewhere along the line. Their authorized DI is completely different (see 235 Regiment). I had a chance many years ago to buy an original and didn't. I went back to get it, but it was sold. Dumb on my part!

I have the restrike (from orignial dies) in my collection. I've compared this to the photos on EBAY. It looks suspiciously like my restrike. I'm looking for other opinions. I appreciate your input.

Definitely Post WWII German-made. Danny

Thanks for your input. I agree it's postwar German made. The problem I have with the piece is that there was a restrike made with original dies I think in Germany. I was told this by several knowledgable DI collectors many years ago.I'm not sure when the DI was restruck. The authorized DI nothing like this one was 1949. It's lineage came from the 635 TD Bn. then became the 135 AAA Bn. then 235 Artillery. I suspect the restrike came well after the "postwar" period, likely in the late 50'sor 60's. I have the restrike in my collection. When i started getting concerned, i compared my piece to the photos. It looked a bit too close to the DI I have compared to the photos.I had an opportunity to get an originial immediate postwar period DI about 30 or so years ago. I passed on it thinking it was too high a price. after rethinking, I went back to buy it, but it was gone. (my mistake)

Actually this 135 AAA Bn likely has nothing to do with Kansas NG service, but the number matches a Kansas NG unit so I have the desire to get one. I get some different ideas sometimes about this. An example. My great uncle served in the Kansas NG before WWI. He was activated and went overseas with the 139th Infantry Regiment. There is no DI for the 139th Infantry that the Kansas NG people were part of. I have in my Kansas NG collection the 139th Infantry DI that was later a North Carolina NG unit. This DI has nothing to do with the Kansas NG, but allows me (in my small mind) to honor his service and others in that unit in the Kansas NG.

Sorry to ramble a bit. Thank you again for your input. I certainly appreciate it.
