The one kit I could not get my hands on when I was a kid was Revell's version of the AVLB.

As far as the M727 Tracked Guided Missile Carrier, I never knew that even existed.  The vehicle may have been made for rough terrain, but I wonder how well the missiles would have fared.

Wow! The M727 would make an easy to convert M548 supply/mess cook vehicle. I look forward to this one!

Thanks for sharing.

Gil, there seems to be a remake of this kit available again:

Unfortunately in 1/40 scale which doesn't fit in my model collection.

I am told that during Desert Storm, after it was clear that Saddam's air force was not a threat, some of the Vulcan armed units were employed as scouts. Imagine the impact of a Vulcan on a bunker!

Takom is releasing another 1/35 M3 variant. I wasn't even aware of the existence of a Lee M3A1 "Canal Defence Light" tank. You'll find a good description of these tanks and their history here:

I'll definitely will get me one. Think off all these possibilities with LED etc. My first "night-dio", lol.

This is proof that there were was no end of madness associated with WWII and the search for strange and unusual weaponry.

One more U.S. combat vehicle I wasn't aware of: M19 Multiple Gun Motor Carrier by Bronco in 1/35 scale. It served in WW II and Korea before it was replaced by the M42 Duster.

I like the .50 cal mounted right in front of what is probably a crew hatch.  Awesome, but also a very exposed position for the gunner with very little protection.

I thought the same. Probably it was mounted to increase AA firepower when needed.

More from the cold war modeler's front. This one screams for a dio as well...so many kits, so little time...

I found this new MASTERBOX 1/35 scale figure set online today. A nice addition to the old existing Airborne figure set (boxart picture from "TheModelingNews")

I wasn't aware of the existence of a "Flamethrower Jeep". Obviously a British invention but based on an U.S. Jeep so it fits here. The kit is in 1/35 scale. More informations and a picture can be found here:

Hey Lars. I do have to tell you that the maximum EFFECTIVE range of a .50 cal. is 2,500 meters (approximately 3,000 yds or 30 football fields).

The approximate max range of the .50 cal is 4 1/2 to 5 miles. So unless the enemy is close I wouldn't want to use that .50 cal. MG, but I know I'd be able to take out jeeps, trucks and other light vehicles at long ranges and still supply air defense with that baby.
