LOOK WHAT JUST DROPPED IN! (Paratrooper wing)

Recommended Posts

Ok, so not as impressive as John Cooper's wings posting, but still ok.

A new dealer showed up at a local antique mall and he brought these in.

No maker's marks and the pin has a catch that stops it at a 45 degree angle. A pretty good way to start the weekend.

How good the weekend starts, depends on what you paid for the wings. :D Still, any find is better than no find and these look like some very nice wings!

Bugme,

I paid about the same cost as two Butterburger meals and two large custard cones at Culvers!

Actually this and a WWI German EM buckle came to $42.00 (includes tax).

Erick-

I like the flat back - scarcer than the more commonly seen examples with an indentation to the parachute on the reverse.

Nice variation. That alone for $42 would have been a very good deal.

Without a doubt, these were worth the price! On top of that your arteries will thank you for skipping the Butterburgers... Hey, I just realized that collecting of militaria is good for your health! think.gif

John Cooper

Nice pick-up!

Thanks for the compliment! Remember by collecting you are helping preserve out history!

Thanks to all of you who responded to this post! I also have a pair of the wings mentioned by KurtA, the ones that are indented on the back. I thought all I really wanted was a representative piece, but now I find myself wanting an English made pair of jump wings and a Sendai made pair! I am almost afraid to ask, but did the Germans make wings during immediate post-war period also?

Thanks again!
