Paul70 Posted January 28, 2014 Share #1 Posted January 28, 2014 What DUI would the 443rd troop carrier group uniform have? The eagle with the soldier or the patch type? It is a CBI unit with the CBI on left sleeve and 10th Air Force on right. He was in headquarters company Thanks
ithaca37 Posted January 29, 2014 Share #2 Posted January 29, 2014 I'm not sure they had a DUI. Massaro's Air Corps DI book doesn't list one. This isn't to say there wasn't one worn. I looked online as well. I can't find anything showing the 443 Troop Carrier Group having a DI. Many units didn't have a DI due to wartime restrictions. They certainly may have worn an unauthorised DI or locally authorised. I don't know if the 1st Troop Carrier Command was worn in the CBI. This unit appears to be part of the 1st Troop Carrier Cmd. when it was formed. I don't have a good answer for this thought. I'll leave this to others with more knowledge than me. Sorry I can't be of more help.
tredhed2 Posted January 29, 2014 Share #3 Posted January 29, 2014 I looked in Capistrano's book on AAF DIs, and there is none depicted for the unit. Not every unit had one, authorized or not.
Paul70 Posted January 29, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted January 29, 2014 Ok, thanks. It's just a rather boring looking uniform for what I believe is a neat unit. I figured DUI's might spice it up for its Airborne heritage. Thanks Paul
