I have this complete 1942 AAF aircraft food container with no broken thermoses and owned it for a long time. I alway wonder how rare are they? were they used in the beginning of the war them stopped? and what the price they sell for? I just never see them and for sale.

In the movie Memphis Belle, the Belle is hit up front and scrape metal also gets Capt Morgan's thermos of tomato juice which splatters the cockpit of the Belle. This is what I assume was hit? the food contain?

A person could build a collection of just air crew food containers, and THAT would be cool. I have a few of the thermoses that were used in the air. Every time one of these food baskets come up on ebay (when I see it) they go for more than I care to pay. I still want a B-36 coffee pot.

Good call! I didn't know there was a coffee pot - sounds too cool.

Oldabewla,

can you tell me what the thermoses read on the bottom?

Thanks, Jeff

Jeff,

They say (The American Bottle Co. Norwich, Conn B2233 vacuum bottle ) and in the very center reads KEAPSIT. Product of made in US of America on very out side of diameter.

Jeff, I see them on ebay but they have a different number on the bottom? mine all are # B2233 and the ones on ebay are #B2133 and they are also stamped in a different location.

I have a couple of these thermoses - mine are marked Keapsit #B2133. Did you find your's with the container?

Hi Craig,

thanks for the reply. I have only seen recent photos of the set, never one from the 40's, so nice to read that the thermos were commercial off the shelf thermoses.

jUST FOUND THIS THREAD... Would you consider selling or trading it?

I am putting together a B-24 display and have been looking for one of these.

I've got a lot of WWI-WWII German & U.S. stuff to trade.

Thanks, Rob
