It's good that people remember that the current actions in Iraq were not our first. Thanks for some great pictures!

USMCRECON

Thank you for the kind words. Below are two vehicle shots. The first two are taken at night of an MH-53. The bottom one is one of our SOF armed dune buggies.

Thanks for sharing your pictures. Just Cause and Desert Shield/Desert Storm were the first real actions that I remember the US undertaking. I was almost seven when Urgent Fury happened and remember a little bit of it, but I remember being glued to the tv screen when Just Cause and DS1 were happening. Great pics!

I've been babysitting my grandkids all day and am worn out but thought I'd drop a couple more DS pics onto the thread this afternoon before going to put my feet up for a while.

These are a couple of our LAVs.

This is a picture of some more of my Kuwaiti "commandos" Before the start of the ground war

This is me relatively early on the morning of the first day of the ground war. In this one I am facing pretty much north (south and Saudi Arabia to my back) so none of the oil fires are visible

Here's a couple more. Both of the pics below were also taken in Kuwait but on day 2. In the firat one I'm wearing minimal gear. The white button on my right chest is a "Free Kuwait" button one of my Kuwaiti resistance fighters gave me earlier and I promised I'd wear it during the liberation.

The second one was taken later on. The difference is that a Marine Colonel had come by and ordered me into flak vest, chem mask, and web gear, etc. before it was taken.

I realize I've posted a lot of stuff on this thread. I don't want to overload it and I've covered at least some of most parts of the op that I was involved in so these will be my last ones.

These last two were taken after the liberation of Kuwait. The top one was taken in the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense compound while my Kuwaitis and I were searching for unexploded ordnance and Iraqi documents left behind. I have rather self-critically called it my "hero" picture. The bottom one is me posing on an abandoned Iraqi quad 14.5mm antiaircraft gun. As you can see, by the time of the liberation, we'd ditched most of our protective gear.

I don't know about improving one's accuracy, Dirk, but it certainly gave a person something to think about. hapy0003.gifdevil.gif

Wild stuff.... did you catch the two corpes that were set up in the humping position on the Highway of Death by our guys? I heard the artist of that porno got a field grade article 15. When will the Vietnam pictures get posted?

Sorry...I missed this post earlier.

I didn't spend a lot of time there. I'm certainly not squeamish but after seeing 20 or more corpses in various states of disrepair, that was enough for me. I didn't see the handiwork that you mention. It may have been farther down the line of destruction or, perhaps, happened after I left the area.

I don't think I woulds have taken that picture, had I seen it. :o

Thanks to all for the kind words and expressions of interest in the Desert Storm photos; I was surprised there was much interest in these anymore. The slides have languished in a box for some 13 years and I finally pulled them out last week. Late last week I started scanning them.

There are over 400 slides in all and the entire scanning process will take weeks on the scanner that I have. Many of them are similar to ones posted so there's really no need to post the others.....for example, when you've seen 10-15 destroyed tanks, trucks, etc, another 20-30 are just overkill. ;)

I have a selection of aircraft nose art pictures taken at various bases during the war (these were not taken by me but given to me after the war). I may post them later on the aircraft section, once I get around to scanning them that will probably be about it.

The Most Iraq Trucks ou can see are IFA W50 made in German Democratic Republic (East Germany).

They where build between 1965 and 1990.

After the German reunification the most of the W50 are sell in Third World countries.
