Patchcollector

If the patch is for the designation CC-2,then anywhere from 1963-70.Fom 1970-80 she was inactive.

Here is some info I found:

USS Wright (CC-2, previously CVL-49), 1963-1980.

USS Wright, a command ship, was originally commissioned in February 1947 as the small aircraft carrier Wright (CVL-49). Beginning in March 1962, she was converted to a command ship, receiving the new hull number CC-2 in September of that year. She recommissioned in May 1963 and operated in the eastern Pacific until late 1963, then transited the Panama Canal to begin Atlantic Fleet duty. For more than five years thereafter, Wright primarily served as an emergency command post, ready to take aboard U.S. political and military leaders in the event of a threatened nuclear conflict. She also performed communications services, including supporting President Johnson's South American visit in April 1967. USS Wright was decommissioned in May 1970 and remained inactive until she was sold for scrapping in July 1980.

Kitty Hawk patch I bought at the same time as the used one, but never worn. You can see the holes where it was stapled to the card for display in the ships store

I think this was finial version of Kitty Hawk patch. My sister sent it to me when she went to visit the ship in Japan where it had taken over for Midway just before she was decommissioned.

Hi Guys,

Great patches so far. I would like to add 2 Vietnam era CTF 77 patches here as they relate directly to carriers. First one is a 6 inch Japanese made NavSecGrp Det 5 for CTF 77. Patch has been removed from a jacket.

Salvage Sailor

USS FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT (CV-42) Midway class In service 1945 to 1977 The Last Cruise - One Last Screw for the Rosey - Final cruise prior to decommissioning at Mayport Naval Station

post-2322-0-37342200-1454802135.jpg

The ship embarked Carrier Air Wing Nineteen for its final deployment, which lasted from October 1976 to April 1977. VMA-231 was on board for this deployment, which demonstrated that VTOL aircraft could be successfully and seamlessly integrated into fixed wing air operations.
