Awhile back there was a discussion about these tyoe vests being worn be either Air Commandos or SOG teams. I personally believe they were available to anyone who wnted to purchase them, except for the Black SOG 1-0 vest. A couple of people asked me to posts photo's of the vests we have so here they are. The 1st vest is a SOG 1-0 vest, 2nd pattern.

The next is a Leopard or Beo Gam ( which is Vietnamese for Leopard) pattern vest. This and the tiger stripe one that is posted in the next set of photos, I have seen photos of Special Forces troopers along with Air Commandos wearing.

Bob,

When I lived in Texas(1984-85)I met a Special Forces vet.He stated he had taken two pair of the jungle fatique trousers into a tailor shop and had them altered into a vest.He had pockets for rifle mags, canteens etc.Sure wish I could have seen it.I had met him at a gunshow in Houston.I was able to purchase a jungle jacket/trouser set from him with insignia and a beret. He also stated one of the first set of camos he had was a set of the WW2 USMC two piece suits. From the way he described it it was the 2nd pattern. He also had some tigers and other stuff but as he stated "Vultures decended on the the house"when my mother died and many of my things disappeared.I will try to poat his jacket soon.

Hi Bob

In first time thanks a lot to show us these rare type of vests

The black vest is made with original black twill or one tan or OD turn to black ( the leather brides is cut)

for you who s made this type of vest ? for the tiger and beo gam one is

civilian tailors , but for the 1.0 vest (CISO .....???? )

Cheers jerome

Thanks for showing us the pictures. Now I know what to look for at the gun shows and flea markets. Just wondering, what does something like that sell for? If I know, I can start saving now!

Jerome-The 1-0 vest is definately the 2nd pattern and is made out of black twill. Yes, the leather toggles have been cut off, but most of the real used ones I have seen, the leather is usually missing. I agree the other two were local made. I have also seen one of these done in a French lizard pattern camo.

One thing that is intersting is I don't believe the black vest was a Ciso item. The brass zipper pull is marked 555 and that is not a Japanese or Okinawa made brand of zipper.

The 1-0 vest is referring to the black vest only. There were two types of this vest made. There are no holsters built-in or sewn to these. The 555 zipper we have had numerous times, in a lighterweight version, on black Vietnam tour jacket.

Hi Guys

Here is another cammo vest .

Its construction is the same as the other Beo gam and Tiger vest .

However what makes it cool is the fact that its an even lower grade of printed cloth and in a different color combination.

It has been used quite a bit and has 1 broken zipper.

The main zip still works !!!

The orginal side ties have been replaced but there are traces of the low quality orginal ones that are directly sewn into the vest.

This one has been there and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do .
