I was wondering about this one- i also have this one in black and white- on a letter- same school -the school in Miami was apparently called the 'Donald Duck Navy'

Just goes to show you how much the Disney characters meant to that generation. They were the ones who joined the Mickey Mouse Club sponsored by their local theater in the 1930s, (by the thousands with more members than the Boy and Girl Scouts combined), and then as young adults went to war. Walt Disney always had an affinity for them. They supported him when the mouse and his studio were in its infancy, and he supported them by designing over 1,200 combat insignia for free. He said in one interview, "I owed it to them."

Nice, my favorite Uncle was on a sub chaser in the S.Pacific, have to get my cousins to check and see what he had. BTW, the late John Amber, well know firearms writer was on a sub chaser in the Carribean .
