WWI Unit and AEF related Lapel Buttons

Recommended Posts

Here are some lapel buttons from my collection, all of which, I think, are WWI unit and AEF related. From the top, clockwise we have a nice example of the 33rd Division War Veterans Association (screw button back), 28th Division (screw button back), 32nd Division with two overseas service stripes (attached button back, marked "Comp'ls Second Ward Savings Bank, Milwaukee"), AEF one year overseas service stripes (pin back), USA with honorable discharge stripe (attached button back, marked same as 32nd Division button),37th Division (screw button back).

I'm not sure about the age of the 28th Division button -- might be WWII? The back is newer, perhaps a replacement. Likewise, I wonder about the 37th Division button. Any help, or additions, would be appreciated! Thanks,

Pete

Hello Pete,

Great material here! Three of them are completely new to me. I agree with RC that the discharge and 32nd look like a set, quite beautiful!

Thank you for sharing them.

best wishes,

Joe

Thanks RC, Kat, and Joe,

Yes, the 32nd and USA are a set. I wonder if the bank gave away any others? Quite a few Wisconsinites went into the 85th Division, too. I'd love to see more examples, other units, etc.

Pete
