CNY Militaria Posted May 1, 2008 Share #1 Posted May 1, 2008 I am trying to ID all of these ribbons on MG John Knapp, VMI superintendent from 1988-95. I recognize all except the last one on the bottom right. Its below the army service ribbon in precedence. Possibly a state award? Can anyone identify it? CNY Militaria Posted May 1, 2008 Author Share #2 Posted May 1, 2008 I am also looking to ID the DI above his name plate. Any ideas?
Jarkeld Posted May 1, 2008 Share #3 Posted May 1, 2008 The ribbon could be: South Carolina Retirement Medal Idaho Distinguished Service Medal Washington Aviation Cross or (least likely): Marine Corps Security Guard Ribbon
collectsmedals Posted May 1, 2008 Share #4 Posted May 1, 2008 The DUI is for the 319th Regiment (Basic Combat Training) which is headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland. So I would expect the ribbon is some sort of Maryland state award. The regiment's motto is "Volens Et Potens" which translates as "Willing and Able".
