damcon3 Posted November 17, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 17, 2013 I am constantly seeing knives for sale that say " a favorite of US paratroopers" these include Southern Richardson, Taylor Eye witness, and William Rogers etc. Does anyone have pictures of US Paratroopers with these knives? SKIPH Posted November 17, 2013 Share #2 Posted November 17, 2013 damcon- Interesting question. Can't recall any photos. No doubt they were carried. I always felt the blades were kinda delicate. Scabbard was lousy, I'd have put it in an M8. My preference would have been an M3 over a "BCK". SKIP
doyler Posted November 17, 2013 Share #3 Posted November 17, 2013 THese were more of a private purchase knife.I own one that belonged to an 82nd Airborne officer. He was a battalion surgeon in the 508th.I also have one that came directly from a 113th Cavalry veteran. Its like new so I think he bought it and never used it.Both are the same style with leather stacked washer handle but different makers.Nice quality Sheffield made knives but as Skip stated the sheaths are a lesser quality.Pretty thin leather.Maybe it was due to better grades of leather going to the military. Not sure. I will look for the thread.Im sure I have posted them here in the past.

Jumpin Jack Posted January 30, 2017 Share #6 Posted January 30, 2017 I have a Fairbain-Sykes obtained directly from an 11th Abn officer, and one that came from a 3rd Ranger Bn NCO, so apparently, they were used. Jack
jim_mi Posted December 15, 2017 Share #7 Posted December 15, 2017 I'm resurrecting this thread because I have a question on the age of these knives. I have several, and have noticed that some have a flat on the blade similar to a fairbairn-sykes. In the fairbairn, this triangular flat, which is just above the guard, indicates a hand ground (earlier) blade. In these knives, does this flat also indicate an earlier blade? Thanks, Jim
