SARGE Posted January 20, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 20, 2007 Gentlemen, For your viewing pleasure, here is a United Confederate Veterans Vest. The UCV was the preimier Confederate Veteran association, although there were others. Notice the cut of the grey wool vest and the brass UCV buttons. Here is a view of the back showing the polished cotton back piece.

Allan H. Posted January 20, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 20, 2007 Sarge, I never get tired of seeing your UCV items and this vest is no exception. Ever since the first time I viewed it (and your display totally kicked my display's @$$ at the 1994 KC Militaria Show). I cannot wait to see more. Championhilz Posted January 21, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 21, 2007 Sarge, Great Vest! Do you know who it belonged to?
SARGE Posted January 21, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted January 21, 2007 Thanks Allan. High praise indeed. Have you decided what you are going to display at the Liberty Memorial display in two months? I am still trying to decide. I keep changing the subject matter each year and last year was Civil War Cavalry sabres, so I am still mulling it over in my mind. I think they call that procrastination... but it could just be a short attention span. Championhilz, this particular vest is not identified to an individual. I do have some identified pieces and that is actually what I prefer. Of course we can't always get what we want. I have some identified uniform groupings from CW vets and those are really nice. I have one Confederate grouping with photos of the fellow in his UCV uniform (and the uniform of course). I even have the bill for his UCV funeral from 1921 and I tracked down his gravesite for some photos and was able to find a newspaper obit for him as well. That is the history part that I love.
