uberguido Posted November 9, 2013 Share #6 Posted November 9, 2013 its nice looking! im pretty sure there was a marine element that wore a skull without the crossbones. not having the crossbones or wings does narrow it down a bit. one of the marine collectors might need to chime in here. USMarineCorps Posted November 9, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted November 9, 2013 thanks! it was only $10 so i just had to get it.
uberguido Posted November 9, 2013 Share #8 Posted November 9, 2013 10$ is good for sure, especially with skull ones because theyre that cool. im trying to find the link where we discussed this further, but cant find it, or find what marine unit it was that rocked the plain skull too. you might have a winner here, search skull duis on here and see what pops up, well get to the bottom of it. USMarineCorps Posted November 10, 2013 Author Share #15 Posted November 10, 2013 awesome! better than i could have expected. can you narrow it down to a specific unit or is it just a generic DUI ?
uberguido Posted November 10, 2013 Share #16 Posted November 10, 2013 could it be 2-12th Marines? they use the skull without the crossbones if I remember correctly. these other guys know more than I do, if anyone says otherwise id listen to them, this is just another option. vintageproductions Posted November 10, 2013 Share #17 Posted November 10, 2013 I don;t remember if it was for a specific unit or not but I have had them on SOG plaques before.
firefighter Posted November 10, 2013 Share #18 Posted November 10, 2013 Bob is right. It's listed in the Special Ops catalog ASMIC puts out.Excellent find. You paid about a tenth of what its worth.
ithaca37 Posted November 10, 2013 Share #19 Posted November 10, 2013 I checked the ASMIC Charge List. They identify this piece as USAF/USN Mil Assistance Cmd Spec Opns Gp. In another entry they list one with gold pupils in the eyes as USN Mil Assistance Cmd Spec Ons Gp. I'd take a guess that this could be the USAF piece. The last sentence is nothing more than a guess on my part
USMarineCorps Posted November 10, 2013 Author Share #20 Posted November 10, 2013 I guess MACVSOG would be a safe guess as I see remeblance to the skull on the famous MACVSOG patch.

ithaca37 Posted November 11, 2013 Share #24 Posted November 11, 2013 I can tell my assistance in trying to id this piece wasn't helpful. i'll refrain from doing so in the future.
USMarineCorps Posted November 11, 2013 Author Share #25 Posted November 11, 2013 You were the one who came up with MACV SOG, so your assistance was actually pretty helpfull! Frederik
