The 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam

Bonjour,

Here is my little contribution to this interesting thread.

This jungle jacket comes from the grouping of the CSM Robert Boyette, 25th Div 1st Bde SGM in 1968, who served previously with the 517th PIR during WWII and a long period with Special Forces (1st and 5th SFGAbn before an assignment at the JFK center). The name tape has been removed and has no airborne wings (CSM Boyette was master parachutist). The name that reads in transparence is Schafer... the previous brigade SGM. We could imagine that the former Bde SGM gave his fully badged jungle jacket (with locally made embroidered star and laurels) to the new one as a spare jacket. Good bud thumbsup.gif !

I'd say early 1950's/Korean War- early 60's, worn at Schofield Barracks, HI.

I think probably early 1950's Korean War, because it doesnt have signs of ever having a name tape sewn on? and I read that during the early 50's they often didnt sew on any name tapes.

Another Pathtinder of the 25th Avn Batt., Corporal Bartlett Rowell.

Type 2 jungle jacket with full color insignias to include the name which is rarely seen for black on white tape.

Corporal Rowell and 1lt later Captain James Hill were assigned at the Pathfinder platoon at the same time period.

I bought this jungle jacket on eBay a couple of years ago and it is one of my favorite 25th Infantry uniform.

This tailored to fit type 2 jungle jacket belonged to Sgt J. Galvan of one the Wolfhounds Battalion.

At first Sgt Galvan wrote his name and initial above the left breast pocket then decided to fully patch his jacket with full color insignias. You can see the .J at the top end of the USA tape.

I bought this jacket from Bill Brooks at OVMS back in the early 90s.

SP4 Bakken. No info. US made CIB and ranks, in-country made name and USA tapes.

From Gil Burket's collection.

Sgt Doty's salty jungle jacket. Picked up in fleamarket of Porte de Saint Ouen, northern Paris in the 80s by a friend of mine.

Details of the impressions of the insignias, USA and CIB. This type of the material shrinking seen from the inside of the uniform is typical of well worn and more than once washed jungle fatigues.

See Beogam's last pick up for another nice example of wear marks, this time on a rip-stop jacket at :
