Garandomatic Posted November 22, 2014 Share #276 Posted November 22, 2014 Gotta love the influence of the hot rod/custom car scene in Vietnam.
Jeeperz83 Posted March 3, 2015 Share #277 Posted March 3, 2015 Here's a coat I've had for a while and just dug out. I believe it belonged to a Kit Carson Scout in the 25th. Coat was recycled and is all direct embroidered. I was able to find a picture and some info on a 25th ID Kit Carson with the same first name. I'd like to think it's his but who knows. beefheart Posted June 8, 2022 Share #286 Posted June 8, 2022 Hi, let me bring up this thread again. Sharing my recently acquired jungle jacket belonged to SP5 Richard H. Morse, 2nd Battalion (HHC & Bravo Company), 27th Infantry Regiment "Wolfhounds", 25th ID. Earned CMB, served in 68-69 time frame. It has the famous "Wolfhounds" tab above SSI. Vietnamese machine embroidered US Army and name tape, and i believe the 25th SSI is US-made. Thanks!
Your local M1 Garand Posted June 19, 2022 Share #287 Posted June 19, 2022 There really is something about identified pieces, especially when it’s got a name attached to it. Cool piece!
ItemCo16527 Posted July 12, 2022 Share #288 Posted July 12, 2022 Here's my Tropic Lighting uniform. I replaced the pin-on insignia based on the very obvious pin holes that were left when I bought it (I was very careful about this).

ItemCo16527 Posted December 29, 2022 Share #293 Posted December 29, 2022 I gave it a lot of thought, and the way I figured it was that he was commissioned too late in WWII to see combat, but was sent to Japan as part of the occupation forces, hence the lack of battle stars on his Asia-Pacific ribbon and American Campaign Ribbon. Probably discharged at some point, and either volunteered for active duty or was recalled during Korea, but wound up either remaining Stateside or going to Germany. From there, he progressed through various assignments until his tour in Vietnam with the 25th Infantry Division. I remember reading somewhere that Battalion Commanders in Vietnam typically received a Legion of Merit at the end of their tours of duty, so the lack of this award suggested to me he was probably a Battalion XO, Operations Officer, or something along those lines. Since he received a CIB, 4 Air Medals, a Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and at least one Bronze Star for Valor, he wasn't sitting around in some air conditioned office somewhere pushing papers lol Then, at some point after Vietnam, he ended up at the Military Personnel Center until his retirement. Still, there is no name in it, so there's no way to confirm anything I'm assuming.
