WW2 Rubberized Parka w/ Alpaca liner that stands on it's own...literally

Picked up a Rubberized material Navy Department Parka/Overcoat w/ the Alpaca liner inside, nice condition, but it's been hanging in a garage and is stiff, it doesn't feel brittle, just stiff, you could darn near stand it up w/o a mannequin. Is there anyway to revive some of the "suppleness" back into it? Chris....

I think anything rubberized and that old it would just destroy it if you started bending it. If you wanted to risk it I would just pretend it's bread dough and kneading it working it and see what happens. Other than that just hang it up as is.

NO, There was a variety of rubber type products both petroleum and synthetic that were used in treatments for many many articles and once that treatment dries out essentially its done! no way of reviving it.
