The insignia shown was bought by me 20 years ago.It came from an Airborne collector out west. The story was a WW2 101st Paratrooper who was an instructor during the Korean War gave this to a parachute student who was a patch collector. The instructor told the collector it was made in France in 1945.The friend that owns it now is still waiting for an ID.the shape of this is so unusual that I think it has to mean something.Maybe a section of a country a bend in a river etc.All replies and thoughts are appreciated.

I'll take it, how much do you want?

Stony, you are joking of course. Because unsolicited offers on a discussion thread are considered inappropriate on this Forum. Any offer like that would have to be sent through PM. And at no point has this item been offered for sale.

Looks like a malformed painters palet. Lots of painting done in France. Colors look like the French order and that does look like 'old Abe' of the 101st. Always nice to find a new unknown and id it!

I'm thinking shield too. German SS units used a less stylized version of that type of shield for their division insignias.

The clues seem to point to some kind of 101st connection.
