robinb Posted September 5, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 5, 2013 Found this set at the flea market last weekend. It's my first B-6 helmet and it was extra nice because it came with the headset and AN-6530 goggles, albiet they are in rough shape. The strap has his name Richard N. Davis 2nd Lt A.C. 0-732520 stamped on the back. I have no history on Lt Davis.
mr_lits Posted September 5, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 5, 2013 Nice flea market score. Really love the rigger earcup audio on the old sheepskin helmets. Thanks for sharing.

Sabrejet Posted September 5, 2013 Share #4 Posted September 5, 2013 Great find. B6s are rare /scarce in any condition but to be complete with it's R-14 receivers and Y-loom too! Shame about the goggles. Bell's Aviation usually stocks NOS replacement lenses and face pads...worth checking them out. http://www.bellsaviation.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=GOG

robinb Posted September 5, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted September 5, 2013 I have a few sets of lenses, so I will be changing them out. And I'll check out Bell's Aviation for the pads. Is there any way to research Lt. Davis?
BEAST Posted September 5, 2013 Share #7 Posted September 5, 2013 I have a few sets of lenses, so I will be changing them out. And I'll check out Bell's Aviation for the pads. Is there any way to research Lt. Davis? It's a common enough name to make research difficult. Fortunately, you have the service number which you can use to request his records from St. Louis. I did find a 1LT Richard N. Davis mentioned a couple fo time on a 3rd Bomb Group website: http://www.3rdattackgroup.org/missions.php 1st Lt. Richard N. Davis 90th BS piloted B-25 D-1 (531) on the August 17, 1943 mission. No idea if it is the same one without his records though.
