General Apathy Posted January 19, 2007 Share #7 Posted January 19, 2007 Hi All, here is an agile girl working with the USO Camp Shows Branch, this photo came from a couple of hundred taken by the camp photograper with a USAAF photographic reconnaissance squadron based near Oxford, England. I can't remember the squadron number at present but it was APO234, something ?????? Farm thats all I can recall. They flew un-armed twin boom Lightnings and Spitfires. What's she thinking at this moment ' right when I get home I need to peel the potato's and carrots, put the meat in the oven, make the gravy. !!! There were all the famous faces in this bunch of photo's but I didn't manage to get those, the guy that accuired this lot of photo's kept all the stars, Genn Miller, Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and the female actress'es, enjoy the photo. Matter of fact I made a copy of the original to do just that. I can make one for you if you'd like... This is one which I found on the net... I believe it was an auction image. Yes he did, although he also did a lot of other work such as story illustration, magazine ads and such. If you're interested in Elvgren's history, take a looksee at 'The Gil Elvgren Story' at Gil Elvgren.com. You can see some dated examples of his work HERE, including both pin-ups and non. As far as I can tell, he may have been one of the escort/bodyguards for various celebrities. I have a couple of photos of him posing with what looks like a couple of starlets of the period, but not pin up. Can anyone tell me more about the "Petty Girls"? From the hairstyles here, I'm leaning a little more towards Korean War era than WWII? Exactly what MOS would have been escort/bodyguard to the lovelies? I would have reupped for that MOS! I do have his WWII USMC photo ID and dog tags naming him as Harold Edwards and a PLT/SGT and it's the same man standing with the two ladies here. They kind of have that "starlet" look from the WWII period to me? Either of these ladies look familiar? BTW - Nice image of Lily Munster!
