Major General Joseph A. McChristian commanded the 2nd Armored Division from July 1967 to July 1969. During part of that tenure he also served as interim commander of the III Corps. He is seen here in 1968 wearing his division SSI on his chest and corps SSI on his left sleeve.

A GI of the 62nd Tank Battalion 19th Infantry Division circa 1956, he's quite decked out with embellishments, as he seems to be wearing a SG brassard (note the billy club as well), probably these aiguillettes are stricly for this battalion for their SG?

PS. Good guess that brassard is in the Branch Colors of Yellow and Green

Just had a thought, wouldn't it be wild if a foto surfaced of a WWII 2nd Armored Division vet in the 1960s, who wore the 2nd Armored Division as a Combat Patch on the chest, rather then on the shoulder!

Pretty nifty too if he was in Korea as well, then he could wear his Korean Conflict unit patch on the right shoulder, NAH :)

Here's one showing the 49th Armored Division SSI worn on the pocket rather than the chest with an unidentified brigade SSI worn on the left sleeve. It's possible it's the 72nd Infantry Brigade which was a subordinate unit of the 49th. The flag in the background appears to have artillery cannons on it.

That there is an Separate Artillery Brigade, which one? Will have to look around, probbly an NG one located in one of the states near Texas.

EDIT

Do believe this is the 111th Air Defense Brigade, the 111th ADA Bde is from New Mexico.

Unusual that an NG ADA Bde would be a Roundout unit for the NG 49th Armd Div right, perhaps rather than a Roundout unit it was to be in direct support of the Lone Star Armd Div, augmenting the divisional ADA Bn, cause these Roundout units from the NG are paired with regular Army Divisions right!.

Commanding officer of the 1st Battalion 72nd Armor of the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea wearing the unusual configuration of an armored triangle above his Combat Infantryman Badge and Parachutist Badge. I can't make out the word at the bottom of the triangle patch.

I just acquired a small lot from the family of Sgt. Lloyd Pettit, 43rd/12th AD. This includes about 75 photos. Half of them in the field - France/Germany. The 12th AD patch is ckearly being worn on the left chest in a couple of these.

We do hope you'll post a couple were the patch is seen.

Overalls belonging to a tank crew member of the 80th Tank Battalion, Co. 'A', of the 8th Armored Division, ID'd with laundry marks.  The family states the veteran received the Purple Heart after receiving damage to one eye when his tank hit a German landmine.

Sorry it took me so long, but was having picture difficulties. This is an example of the 12th Armored Division patch being worn on the chest. This photo was one of about 75 acquired in a small lot from a man in the 43rd/12th AD. These are taken in the field in France and Germany/ The mans name is in the original post from a week or two ago.
