USMCRECON Posted July 26, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 26, 2013 I just got back about 3 hours ago from the National Museum of the Marine Corps. I was invited for the opening of the SSgt Reckless exhibit in the Korean War section of the museum and a couple hours late for the dedication of the monument to SSgt Reckless; an amazing story. The first part of the ceremony was conducted indoors. Then all parties walked outdoors for the dedication of the actual monument.

OPs Vegas, Reno, and Carson suffered a huge Chinese attack on the evening of 26 March 1953 and Reckless made over 50 trips to the Marine lines afor ammo and back during this fighting. USMCRECON Posted July 27, 2013 Author Share #17 Posted July 27, 2013 The four speakers for the indoor part of the program, L-R: LtGen Robert Blackman (ret), President of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation Ms Robin hutton, President of angels Without Wings Jocelyn Russell, the sculptor/artist Sgt (ret) Harold Wadley. Harold is a Marine's Marine. He fought on OP Vegas in the night the Chinese over-ran it and the Marines counter-attacked and pushed them back off. He also served with H/2/5 in Vietnam. On 3-4 July 1967, his platoon was on Hill 200 and my Recon Team was on Hill 452, which was right across the river. Late that night, the grunts on Hill 200 were hit by a large NVA attack (Pfc Newland earned an MoH there) and from our observation point, we adjusted supporting artillery fire on the NVA who were swarming over their bunkers.
