Hessian Posted July 21, 2013 Share #4 Posted July 21, 2013 Nice finds. The sword belt is actually for a Staff Noncommissioned Officer (SNCO) so Staff Sergeant to SgtMaj/MGySgt. Is the uniform named inside? Usually there is a pocket on the inside and sometimes a tailor's label will have the owners name.

manayunkman Posted July 21, 2013 Share #15 Posted July 21, 2013 Very interesting. The uniform with the fancy braid on the cuff is the one from Bromeyer ? It's dated 1938 to an Lt. What rank does it show on the shoulder ? Could Bromeyer and Bradley be related ? Could Bro. be a mentor or friend ? A very interesting combination. Would love to see a picture of the flag under the uniform.

Kadet Posted July 25, 2013 Share #22 Posted July 25, 2013 Bromeyer served extensively in China prior to WWII. While serving w/ 1st Battalion, 4th Marines he was captured in the Philippines. His POW muster roll entries end in 1945, so it seems he didn't survive.
ludwigh1980 Posted July 25, 2013 Share #23 Posted July 25, 2013 James R. Bromeyer's Dress uniform must have been re-used by the other officer and modified with the post war uniform changes. If it was as it was the last time he used it, it should have still had the sleeve briad and the shoulder knots. Great piece. Great group. Kadet Posted July 25, 2013 Share #24 Posted July 25, 2013 ...yes, it is VERY common for officers to recycle, beg borrow and steal these mess dress uniforms. They are worn infrequently and are quite expensive. The base thrift store at NOB Norfolk used to have a section devoted entirely to selling recycled uniforms.
