WWII US Navy Helmet with Mystery Markings? Yellow anchor & Circles?

I think the only beach battalion used during Operation Husky was the 4th Beach Battalion. They did not have these painted on their helmets. Just an FYI in trying to narrow it down.

Did you ever find out what unit this Navy helmet traced back to? I have one similar.

Nothing new since this thread stopped.  But plenty of evidence in the 3 pages of US use, not French.
