pbasso1954 Posted July 17, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2013 I received this badge from eBay a couple of days ago. The person who posted it said it was a Coast Guard Master-at-Arms rating badge, but I know they don't have MA's. When I looked online I saw two different rating marks listed: Maritime Law Enforcement Specialist (ME) which shows a US-style shield in the center of the rating and, Port Security Specialist (PS), showing the letters PS in the center. This badge just shows a white shield. Does anyone know what this is?
firefighter Posted July 18, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 18, 2013 Looks kind of like the CG Maritime Enforcement Specialist. Check out this site, page 31. http://www.uscg.mil/history/docs/USCGRating_Warrant_Marks.pdf
MastersMate Posted January 7, 2017 Share #3 Posted January 7, 2017 It is the first version of the Coast Guard Port Securityman rating badge. It was authorized in 1980. A few years later the shield was change to include the letters PS. Was in use between 1980 and 1984sh. Info from federal supply system specification sheets..
