hhbooker2 Posted April 1, 2008 Share #1 Posted April 1, 2008 "GREETINGS & SALUTATIONS!" A soldier send a comic postcard to someone in Indiana while he was at an army camp in Mississippi - the message is easy enough to read and such ephemera tell us a story and take us back into the past for a moment, isn't that part of collecting things from yesteryear? Vincennes Posted April 3, 2008 Share #2 Posted April 3, 2008 I collect military postcards from all wars. I find them facinating. It is a piece of history in your hands. I have 4 cards from this Oklahoma WW1 soldier. None are mailed, so they were apparently included in a letter home.. In case you cannot read the text it says: "This is a portion of the Argonne woods. It looks just like the picture. We were in these woods of which you have read so much. Were under continuous shell and Gas and M.G. fire for nine days and nights. Sure was rough. Grant Ghering." I assume "M. G." in his message is machine gun. Paul
