patches Posted June 16, 2013 Share #1 Posted June 16, 2013 Came across this interesting profile in the June 1977 issue of Soldiers. Believe it or not he still on duty. http://crownheights.info/chabad-news/38040/celebrating-high-holy-days-in-afghanistan/
Jack's Son Posted June 16, 2013 Share #2 Posted June 16, 2013 He has held up well! I imagine he is as up to date as any Chaplain can be, he looks pretty cool.
patches Posted June 17, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted June 17, 2013 He has held up well! I imagine he is as up to date as any Chaplain can be, he looks pretty cool. He's been GI for so long he wears his soft cap instead of a Yamulka for the service in Afghanistan. For you Helmet guys, note the then 1st LT Goldstein uses a blousing rubber instead of a camouflage band.

patches Posted June 17, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted June 17, 2013 But isn't this strange, he we see Goldstein, who is mentioned in the artical, with his beard, both way back in 1977 as a 1st Lieutenant and again as a full Colonel in 2008, yet I seen this. Why would Goldstein be the only one exempt? strange, but then....... the Army today, well you know. http://religionandamericanlaw.blogspot.com/2011/12/hasidic-jews-in-military.html
Jack's Son Posted June 17, 2013 Share #6 Posted June 17, 2013 The Army of today is out of touch with reality. They will protect the rights of an Islamic terrorist who kills his fellow soldiers, but won't let a man of God grow a beard which is his religious duty. Go figure.
