Greg Robinson Posted March 25, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 25, 2008 According to my Collins & Company reference book this M1942 machete was the very last contract item made by Collins for the US military. It's unclear what the purpose was since the US seemed to have an ample supply of machetes made in WW2 and the Korean War but whatever the reason, it was the end of a very long run of supplying edged weapons and tools to the military. It was right around this time that Collins & Company went out of business. I found this machete mated with a USMC 1943 dated scabbard. It's made indentical to their 1944-1945 M1942 machetes but for the markings. Greg
