I got two item's from a grage sale last week that were kind of different. The first is a U.S.M.C. marked "Armor, Body, Fragmentation Protective, Lower Torso Type M-53" and is in great shape. Would this be for chopper crew as i could not see it being used at the ground level. The other item I picked up is some kind of pad's I think, they are marked left and right on one side and also have the markings "BMC" on the other. Anybody know what they are? Cheers, Kevin

The lower torso armor was also know as the "Flack Diaper".

USMC issue and developed during the Korean War.

They were also used during the early period of the Vietnam War.

The marines coming ashore at Da Nang in 1965 can be seen wearing them.
