I picked this up recently and had not seen one before. it is embroidered on twill and about 4" high. With the flat or cut edge it might date from the 1960s. I could not really find any examples on-line of this particular patch being worn, but there is a photo on wikipedia of a drum major wearing a very similar patch on a sash. His appears to be more ornate, perhaps bullion, and does not have the bottom scroll. Does anyone know anything about this particular version and who, where, or when it would have been worn?

Like many elements of their band uniform, the patch was designed to incorporate features from the 1875 shako plate. If you look closely at their uniform, there are many other elements which represent uniform designs of the 1800s.

Here's one image, note too the one worn on the baldric has no scroll, perhaps this cloth one is a blazer patch?
